Homes for Our Troops – March 2010
In March 2010 our students, families and friends came together to raise over $1,500 for “Homes For Our Troops”. This organization builds specially adapted homes for our severely wounded veterans, at no cost to the veterans. Our students participated in a Kick-A-Thon and held a Gift Auction to raise this incredible amount for this incredible cause.

Good People Day
“Good People Day” was started last year by Gary Vaynerchuk (www.garyvaynerchuk.com). If you don’t know who Gary is, he’s worth checking out. He’s THE wine guy, an internet phenom and my brother’s boss. He suggested that on April 3rd of each year, people post a blog about some good people. I think this is a great idea, so here’s my post:
The 107 people who travelled to Greensboro, Alabama this year with the Ultimate Black Belt Test and the New Way Network are my good people. What started in 2005 with about 30 people, has grown into a yearly pilgrimage of sorts. This year this special group of people worked on restoring a historic schoolhouse as well as building a safe home for an elderly man and many other projects around town. These 107 volunteers also raised $50,000 for these projects. They asked for nothing in return for their time and money. But, having been to Greensboro in past years, I know that they not only helped this small town but reaped many benefits themselves including memories that they will cherish forever.

Saturday, April 4th
Each quarter of 2009, our students are invited to participate in a unique physical challenge. For the first three months of this year, the challenge was “Black Jacks”. This is how you do “Black Jacks”:
Do 20 Pushups and 1 Squat Thrust
Do 19 Pushups and 2 Squat Thrusts
Do 18 Pushups and 3 Squat Thrusts
Continue to subtract 1 Pushup and add 1 Squat Thrust until you are at 1 Pushup and 20 Squat Thrusts (or until you can’t do anymore).
Post how far you got and your time to comments.
